Who would have guessed that the Flintstones had it right to portray humans and dinosaurs living together at the same time. Check out this clip from the new HBO documentary “Friends of God” where we see children being indoctrinated with this “Flintstonology”:

From the ABC NEWS website:

Brian “Sapient” is an average-looking 30-year-old guy who works out of his basement in Philadelphia. His job? Well, Brian is taking on God.

“Wow, that’s a dramatic way of putting it,” says Brian, who asked that “Nightline” not use his real last name for safety reasons. But however he defines his challenge, Brian is on the cutting edge of a new and emboldened wave of atheism.

“There isn’t any good reason to believe in God,” asserts Brian. “It’s that simple.”

The privatization of the nation’s highways, a trend touched off in 2005 when the City of Chicago sold a 99-year-lease on the Chicago Skyway to the same consortium, has so far received little attention. It is, however, big news in the investment banking world, and major firms such as Goldman Sachs and the Carlyle Group have already set up infrastructure funds to invest in what they expect to be a very lucrative market. Many states have privatized their prisons, and other public facilities — water, power, police — are heading to the auction block: Good? Efficient? A deal for who?

The technology seems like a medical miracle to many hearing parents and doctors who see the technology as a cure for deafness. But the cochlear implant has long been the center of a stormy debate. Some deaf advocates worry that the view of deafness as an illness to be cured marginalizes the deaf and stigmatizes those who can’t –or don’t wish to–use an implant.

Free Inquiry Forum has a new location for Thurs., Feb. 1st, 2007. Same time of 7:00 to 7:30 to show up, order, food. Then discussion.

Here’s a note from Karin:

As most of you know our Thursday night group has been discussing the possibility of making a change of restaurants. Steak and Ale has not been particularly excited about having us as customers and we have not been terribly excited with their food. Therefore, this week at the meeting we took a vote and decided to try Pegasus Greek Family Restaurant on Bee Ridge Road for the meeting next week.

Obviously for us it is worth a try to improve our meeting location and hopefully the new restaurant will be happy to have our business. Hope to see all of you next week.

2833 Bee Ridge Road

I have decided to update the Free Inquiry Forum website using the newest WordPress content management software. This will allow forum moderators and attendees the ability to easily post topic suggestions for upcoming meetings. These posts can then be discussed online using the comment feature before and after meetings. This will be especially useful for those that wish to be involved in the topic discussion but are unable to attend the weekly meeting.

You may notice some incompete sections of the website. Please be patient while I continue to complete the migration over to WordPress and add new content.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.
